Why you Should Watch Aggressive Retsuko

If you ever want a show that tackles everyday struggles in work and life that is also represented by cute Sanrio characters, well you might want to check out this anime.

Aggressive Retsuko or Aggretsuko is an anime by Sanrio that revolves around the life of the red panda named Retsuko where she deals with the everyday struggle in work and life, she releases her frustration and anger by singing heavy metal at the karaoke.

This anime was a unique take to everyday struggles of anyone that works or anyone who feels stressed can relate too, the anime has a colorful cast of characters that has different personalities that also fits the common work stereotype which makes the show relatable even if the characters are animals which Sanrio is very good at considering they are the company behind iconic characters like Hello Kitty, Gudetama, and many more notable Sanrio characters.

In the 10 episode journey we follow Retsuko’s story on escaping her job and finding happiness, from dreaming to leave her job and working on a store with a friend, to getting married and retiring as a housewife, throughout the anime Retsuko is always face with the reality that life is hard and there are no easy way outs, but she also realizes that everyone around her from the people she looks up, and the jerks in her life also had things to deal with in their life and having a hard time to cope with their weaknesses, and shows that she is not alone on that.

It’s a short 15 minute per episode anime where you can sit back and relax and be entertained by the depiction of daily struggles in a cartoon-ish way. I recommend this anime to anyone who wants to watch a short show and find something that they can relate to, you might be someone who works or someone stressed out in any kind of way, this show is the one to watch.

You can watch Aggressive Retsuko on Netflix.

Game Review: Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver

So I want to share with you one of the BEST Pokemon games I have ever played, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver is the remake of Pokemon Gold and Silver on the Game Boy Color, this game was released on Japan September 12, 2009, and was released on other countries March 2010 on the Nintendo DS.

The game is the COMPLETE package for me personally because it’s the first Pokemon game to feature 2 regions and you can collect up to 16 badges, not only that but after beating everything you get to fight RED the original trainer on the first Pokemon game (Pokemon Red and Blue) in the end of the game.

Since the game is a remake the game looked more vibrant and alive it uses the same 3D engine as Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. It made the art style even better and game more life and identity to towns like Ecruteak City an areas like Mt. Silver and the Pokemon League even better than before.

The game features 2 legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh and Lugia, they are both obtainable in both versions, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver takes place 2 years after the original Pokemon Red and Blue and it features the Johto and Kanto region.

Also on Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver your Pokemon tags along with you a feature that is similar on Pokemon Yellow where your Pokemon is walking with you.

The soundtrack of the game was amazing and it really made the experience more immersive the rearrangement of classic themes like the Champion/Red Battle theme was amazing it really gives me the vibe on going through the ultimate battle with the strongest trainer.

Here try listening to this.

It also offers the classic 8-Bit soundtrack of the game where you can obtain after you collect all 16 badges

The game also comes with a Poke-Walker a small Tamagochi like device where you can take your Pokemon with you and get items and something to do with your Pokemon outside of the game.

It also features Legendary Pokemon post generation 2, Pokemon like Groudon, Kyogere, Giratina, Arceus and also Legendary Pokemon from generation 1 that were not available on the original games like the three legendary birds Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, and also Mewtwo.

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver is what a remake of an old Pokemon game should be and it’s not just a nostalgia ride but it’s a modern take on the original Pokemon Gold and Silver and made all things that made it good even better and added even more content to the game, It still stands as one of the BEST Pokemon games I have ever played and I will highly recommend this game to anyone, I give this game a rating of 4.5/5.

Why you Should Watch Hi Score Girl

If you love video games and anime this is the show for you.

Hi-Score Girl is an anime by Netflix that was based on the manga of the same name created by Oshikiri, Rensuke.

The story starts on 1991 on Japan where the arcade games industry is booming and our protagonist Yaguchi Haruo spends his time on the arcade playing Street Fighter II until one day he faced Oono Akira, a fellow classmate who was very popular, rich, and smart. Then Akira absolutely destroyed Haruo on Street Fighter II, that’s when their rivalry begins.

It’s a simple story and I find it very entertaining and relatable, since I also played games like Street Fighter II, Final Fight, Tekken and many more classic retro games and seeing those games be represented in an anime and not just some reference was a treat to me. Not only they showed the games they also gave tips on how was the arcade culture back then what strategies they used to fight and many more it’s a nostalgia treat to anyone that is familiar of classic arcade and console games.

Hi-Score Girl is not just an anime about video games, it’s also a romance anime and what I appreciated about it is that, there is no fan service involve or any cliche things you see on a romance anime today, it’s more of a pure and innocent love that started from being bitter rivals to best of friends, and it has a love triangle that will leave you asking who is the best girl.

The anime also shows how each character progresses in their life by adding different characters along the way, and while their growing up the gaming world around them also changes you will see the rise of gaming consoles like Gameboy, PSX and the SEGA Saturn and the evolution of games along the way.

So why you should watch it?

If you really like retro games and anime you’re in for a treat, this show is one of the hidden gems of 2018 for me, and if you’re looking for a wholesome show and nostalgia this is it. I strongly recommend watching this for anyone who loves games and anime.

You can watch the legal stream of Hi-Score Girl on Netflix.

Game Review: Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

So this is my 2nd game review, and I want to give my opinions and thoughts on the most recent Pokemon game I finished, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the 2nd installment on the Generation 7 of Pokemon RPG main games, it was developed by Game Freak, and was released globally on November 17, 2017.

The game is located on the Hawaii-based Alola region the latest region of the Pokemon franchise and it reintroduces Alola with a new altered story, characters, Pokemons, forms, and gameplay features.

Alola Region

The game features the legendary Pokemon Necrozma with its 2 new forms and also includes the ultra recon squad the new characters in the game that will impact the story later on.

The game also features new Z-moves for different Pokemons, also the game introduces the Ultra Wormhole where you can catch Legendary Pokemon from different generations you can catch up to 37 legendary Pokemons on the Ultra Wormhole and Ultra Beasts the Pokemons that live on the Ultra Wormhole.

Also on the Ultra Wormhole you can catch shiny Pokemon there much easier you can say goodbye on having thousands of encounters before you can get that shiny Pokemon.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon also adds a new mini-game called Mantine Surfing, where instead of going to the ferry station to travel to the next island you can surf on a Mantine, and try to get the highest rank and rack up points and prizes. And who knows you might also get a rare Pokemon along the way.

Another feature is the Battle Agency an online hub for players looking for a challenge, it’s kinda similar on how Pokemon Stadium is played because instead of using your own Pokemon you will rent a Pokemon to use in the battle, which can lead to different strategies per battle and can spice up your online experience.

The game also adds totem stickers where you can get the totem Pokemon you see on your trials, it replaces the Zygarde cells that was on Pokemon Sun and Moon and the totem stickers are scattered all over Alola good luck finding them all.

One of my favorite features of the game is the expanded post-game content, after you become the champion of Alola you gain access to another story called Team Rainbow Rocket where all the evil bosses of all previous games comes back from a parallel world where all their plans succeeded to form a super group with the leadership of Giovanni the original villain of the 1st Pokemon game.

Is Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon worth buying?

Yes it’s worth buying because Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon really pumped up what the first 7th gen games did good and made it even better, it gave more opportunities to play the game more even after the main story and you also got more stuffs to do online.

It also gave me a nostalgia ride from using classic soundtracks for the legendary Pokemon battles, and to battle all the past Pokemon villains, it’s such a blast it made me remember the first time I took down Team Galactic on my first time playing Pokemon Pearl and I will gladly recommend this to anyone if you’re just starting to play your first Pokemon game or if you’re a veteran player you can find many ways to enjoy this game.

Game Review: Celeste

So recently I have been playing a lot of games and Celeste was one of them on this review I’ll give my opinions and reactions about the game.

So what is Celeste?

Celeste is a platforming video game by Canadian video game developers Matt Thorson and Noel Berry. And was released on January 2018 on PC, PS4, XB1, and Nintendo Switch.

In Celeste you control a red hair girl character named Madeline and the main point of the game is for you to make your way up to the mountain and reach the summit while avoiding dangers along the way, it’s simple yet challenging since every levels you are presented with a new mechanic or obstacles that you need to cross.

The game was very difficult I manage to die many times during my casual playthrough.

The game feels like solving a puzzle along the way and there is no one way to progress to the levels you can find different ways and strategies to progress through each stage.

I enjoyed my time playing and learning the games controls the game has a simple yet complex movement mechanics you have dash, jump, and grab although it might sound simple at first you can still do advance movements with proper timing and combination of buttons to give you an edge on progressing on the levels, and one thing I also noticed that this game had speedruning in mind because of it’s amazing controls and movement mechanics, even the game has a timer so you can keep track on how fast did you cleared the game.

The level designs are amazing you can spend hours on a level and find something new like secret passages and unlocking secret levels along the way.

One thing I also liked about it was its soundtrack it gives each level identity and a feeling of going on a challenge and adventuring along the way, it really helped me be more immersed on the road along the way not only the level soundtrack was good but also the remixes for the secret levels were amazing, there is nothing more better than a good game with a good soundtrack.

So is Celeste a game that you should play?

Yes it’s a game that you should try if you’re looking for a challenge and adventure along the way with its amazing gameplay mechanics to its amazing soundtrack and everything else, My verdict for this game is a 4/5.

Even though it’s an indie game it’s an experience I won’t forget because it made me remember on how challenging it was to play and figure out how to play the game when I was a kid, and the feeling of climbing a mountain that the higher you get the harder it goes and feeling the hardships that the main character experienced along the way was something I relate to and I would gladly recommend this game to any person whatever genre you might be into it’s a game that you have to experience.

Please play the game and support the developers!!

How I got into gaming.

So how did I ended up playing video games and loving them? Well I’ll tell you the story, the first time I learned about video games was the time when my mom bought us a Chinese FamiCom (Family Computer) imitation which has a 100 in 1 games from the Divisoria it’s an odd looking console that was shaped as a keyboard which was kinda strange but nevertheless I tried to play it and when we tried running it on the TV i saw the whole screen of our TV with a full list of games and when my dad picked a game it was Super Mario and then I watched my dad play the game I was AMAZED because the soundtrack and the look of the game really left a mark on me just the first level of the game it’s so satisfying to play until this day and still remains one of my favorite games because its a classic and almost everybody knows the iconic soundtrack of world 1-1.

And then everyday after finishing my classes and doing my homework I would often play Super Mario and Track and Field on my spare time.

Eventually they bought a DVD player a year after they bought the FamiCom imitation and the DVD player had a game CD included and 2 controllers on the box which has 300 in 1 games (although it’s technically 100 in 1 games because the list repeats itself after 101) and there were new games on the disc so I was so excited when i first got to play it and we had 2 controllers now because the FamiCom imitation only has one and I got to play with my dad there was this game called Battle City which you play as a tank and defend the base and each time you rank up your tank gets stronger which was great and since we have to controllers we can use the 2 player function I can still remember getting carried by my dad most of the time we played because I suck at playing games back then but we beat the game it was an achievement for me because it’s the first time I finished a game. I did not only played games with my dad but also my grandma learned how to play games and that game was Bomber Man she was bored at one time then she told me if i can teach her how to play the game so I did I can still remember spending time in her room teaching her how to finish the level because on bomber man after you kill all the monsters in the level you must look the the exit to proceed on the next level.

And then when I got to Grade 1 I got a Nintendo DS which was a handheld console which means I can take it anywhere it’s where I learned about Pokemon which is a big influence on me and I had more playmates since I can take it anywhere and it was fun cause i got to talk about games with my friends and i got to bond with them.

Moving on gaming became a big influence in my life it’s where I spend my free time and I got to meet many friends and people because of it, and because of gaming I was influenced to take a career path that is related to computers or game development, Gaming really had a big impact on me not only because it’s a source of happiness and entertainment but also an escape to reality where I can be the character I play in the game.
